A Moment to Remember: The Sip & See at Norwood Vineyard & Gardens
There are moments when you stand on the edge of something new, something you’ve imagined and dreamed about, but still, seeing it come to life takes your breath away. This past October, we welcomed friends, family, and guests to the Sip & See at Norwood Vineyard & Gardens, marking the beginning of our newest chapter. Most of you know L’Eau Hill House, the place where our gatherings have blossomed into something beautiful, but this—this was the beginning of a new story for our family and for Homebody & Co.
The idea behind the Sip & See was simple yet profound. We wanted to show the “before”—the raw, untouched version of Norwood Vineyard & Gardens—because in a world that so often celebrates only the polished and final results, we believe there’s beauty in the process. There is magic in the journey of building, in the unfolding, in the small, meaningful steps that lead to something extraordinary. This is where true value is created: in the moments when the vision is still being pieced together, when hope is tangible, and dreams begin to take shape.
The day was perfect, wrapped in that golden autumn light that seems to make everything glow a little brighter. We wanted the event to feel simple yet warm, so we opted for a gourmet popcorn bar and crispy, salty kettle chips—a nod to easy indulgence. For those with a sweet tooth, there were salted caramel brownies, buttery shortbreads, and delightful mini-cakes that melted in your mouth. But the true highlight of the day was our wine cocktail bar. We served a medley of fall flavors: pear sangria, a peach cobbler cocktail that tasted like comfort in a glass, apple cider mimosas for a sparkling twist, and the season’s star—a taste of our own muscadine wine. Watching guests savor these sips, smile, and toast to what’s to come was the moment I realized this was more than just a gathering; it was a shared hope for the future.
The event was brought to life with the magic touch of my mother, founder of Pixie Dust Events. She has always had a way of making every gathering feel like it’s been dusted with a bit of enchantment, and this day was no exception. The decorations were both elegant and grounded, much like the vineyard itself—full of history, yet blossoming into something new.
But the most poignant part of the day was the groundbreaking ceremony. As a family, we each took turns digging into the land, symbolic of our collective commitment to nurturing our legacy and planting seeds for generations to come. My aunts spoke with such pride and warmth, sharing the stories of our family’s history, their voices blending with the rustling leaves. They spoke of resilience, of the land that has held us through so much, and of the dreams that carried us to this very moment.
We shared our plans for the vineyard, pointing to renderings and vision boards, illustrating the journey that will unfold over the next few months. The future is tangible now; it’s in the plans, the vision, and the laughter that filled the air that day. It was in every handshake, every hug, and every clink of glasses.
Standing there, surrounded by loved ones and new friends, I felt the heartbeat of what we are building—not just another venue, but a place that roots us in our past while inviting us to dream forward. It was a moment of reflection and hope, a reminder that the stories we carry and the ones we create can coexist in the most beautiful ways.
Norwood Vineyard & Gardens is the culmination of heritage, love, and an invitation to gather and create new memories. This is just the beginning, and we’re honored to share it with you.
With gratitude,
Erika
